I was always watching "Who's wedding is it anyway?" and "Say Yes to the Dress" and have always loved weddings, but I didn't think it was a career available in my small city for people without specialized degrees. As I helped college friends & co-workers with their weddings, they kept telling me I'd be really good at it. After a career change (away from computers) I did some research online, took a certification course, and launched my first company in 2007.
Honestly, it's easy to get overwhelmed trying to do all the business things, networking, marketing, shows, meetings, timelines, to-do lists, budget tracking, etc. but when I show up on wedding day and see the love these 2 people have for each other I'm in love with the process all over again. I have a genuine love of helping people, so being a planner is extremely rewarding.
"Finally, a huge thank you to Kimberly Carman [with] A Southern Engagement! Whenever we needed something we reached out and you were always available. Making sure the timeline ran smoothly and doing all the little pick ups on the day of was huge! You are so great to work with!" --Bill Malzow, Groom
